Emergency Landing Travis AFB - June 28, 1965

Flight Pan Am 843 was a scheduled domestic commercial flight from San Francisco, CA to Honolulu, HI. On June 28, 1965, Clipper Friendship (N761PA), the Boeing 707-321B operating this route, experienced an uncontained engine failure shortly after take-off, but was successfully in making a emergency landing at the Travis Air Force Base, which is halfway between San Fransisco and Sacramento. After Landing, it was discovered that 1/3 of the right wing was gone.
