The Remos GX and G3 are a family of aircraft produced by the Remos Aircraft Company GmbH, in Pasewalk Germany.
Design and development
The aircraft is marketed in the United States as a Light Sport Aircraft, and in numerous other countries worldwide as Ecolight (Switzerland) or Ultralight (e.g. in Germany, Denmark). Both aircraft are high-wing designs using a 100 hp (75 kW) Rotax 912ULS engine.
The GX is the current model in production, and features folding wings and carbon fiber construction. The aircraft is constructed primarily from monocoque carbon fiber. It has been stress tested to +8 to -5 g.
The GX has a different airfoil than the G3 improving roll rate and better penetration of turbulence. The slotted flaps allow steeper descent rates and safe short-field landings. The aircraft is equipped for night VFR flight for those pilots holding private pilot privileges or above. Folding the wing for transport or storage is accomplished by disconnecting the flight controls, and removing one pin from both wing roots. Typically, this is accomplished in under 15 minutes.
The aircraft is in use at numerous flight schools worldwide. Typical fuel burn in training settings is 3.3 gal/hour, with high speed cruise consumption of 5.5 gal/hour.
The standard and required equipment varies by country, and factory options include a ballistic parachutes and autopilots.
The innovative monocoque construction combines low weight and highest rigidity for an almost unlimited lifetime. It is stress tested in an range of +8 to -5 g.
The adapted airfoil improves roll rate and gives a better penetration of turbulence. A higher air-brake-effect of the new slotted flaps allows steeper descent rates and safe short-field landings. Intergrated landing lights and new LED position lights provide better visibility.
